Broken or Unused Necklaces?

This is an example of current work. Lots of pearls, fancy beads and necklaces are being made into bracelets. Some are on elastic, some on silk with a clasp. These will then be distributed around the family concerned, to give everyone a cherished memory of a loved one.

Pearls are usually rethreaded on natural silk with knots inbetween, to protect the pearls from abrasion damage. Natural silk is very strong. It does gradually stretch over time, depending on how often they are worn. It’s always best to have them rethreaded before they break, to avoid losing any pearls.

Always protect pearls from perfume and hairspray. These damage the surface of the pearls, gradually thinning the layers of natural nacre.
